PROFESSOR | PHILOSOPHER | PSYCHOANALYST
Who is the person you long to be?
What might be making you feel stuck or holding you back?
Psychoanalysis offers a space to ask deeper questions—about who you are, how you’ve come to be, and how you can live more authentically. Whether you’re navigating a major transition, wrestling with inherited narratives, or simply craving a space to slow down and hear yourself think, I offer therapy as a collaborative process grounded in curiosity, and care.
I’m a licensed research psychoanalyst, trained at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles. My clinical work builds on a longstanding academic career in philosophy, with a focus on moral psychology, particularly the emotion of shame. I'm a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association, a Fellow of the International Psychoanalytical Association, and a co-editor of the special issue of Psychoanalytic Inquiry “Shame: Sources and Trajectories.”
In my private practice, I offer psychoanalysis to adults seeking to explore the deeper meaning of their experience, including issues of identity, shame, and authenticity. I also offer individual and group consultation for therapists interested in the philosophical dimensions of clinical practice, and I serve as a training and supervising analyst at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles and the Newport Psychoanalytic Institute.
